Heavyweight line-up to address Business School finance conference
A Nobel Laureate, three CEOs of major companies and a speaker from the Bank of England are among those speaking at Imperial College Business School.
A select group of business leaders, policy makers and leading academics are expected to attend today’s The Future of Finance conference – the third such conference the Business School has held.
Keynote speakers include Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, the CEO of Lloyds Banking Group, António Horta Osório, and Executive Director, Financial Stability Strategy and Risk, Bank of England Alex Brazier.
Other high profile external speakers include Megan Butler, Director of Supervision – Investment, Whoesale and Specialist at the Financial Conduct Authority, Luke Ellis, CEO of the Man Group, Daniel Masters, Director, Global Advisors Bitcoin Investment Fund, Sir Andrew Dilnot, Chair, UK Statistics Authority and Nigel Wilson, the CEO, of Legal & General Group.
The conference will explore future global challenges and opportunities in the finance sector, and their likely effect on policy and practice.

Leading Imperial academics will also chair panels on topics of the day including Dr Andrei Kirilenko, Director of the Global Fintech Centre at the Imperial College Business School, will chair a panel on fintech, cryptocurrencies and cybersecurity.
He said: “Both fintech solutions and cybersecurity threats are global developments. National regulators have been trying to figure out how to promote fintech and digital innovation, but also protect their financial systems from cybersecurity risks. The panel will discuss how fintech and cyber go hand-in-hand and what the future might hold.”
Dr Claudia Custodio, Associate Professor of Finance at the Business School will also chair a session on finance, inequality and development with Rui Barros, CEO of Barclays Bank, Mozambique and Ralph de Hass, Director of Research for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
