Webometrics published its latest version (beta version) of the University Rankings on January ۲۸ this year, reviewing more than ۳۱,۰۰۰ universities and research institutes from ۲۰۰ countries. Over ۱۱۹۹۴ universities worldwide and ۷۱۴ universities from Iran have succeeded in participating in this ranking. The first to fifth ranks of our country belong to the University of Tehran, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Shahid Beheshti University, Amirkabir University, and Sharif University with world rankings of ۳۴۹, ۴۴۶, ۵۸۰, ۵۹۴, and ۶۵۹, respectively.

According to the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology, Urmia University received the ranks of ۲۹ in the world and ۱۹۰۲ in the world and witnessed a remarkable promotion in one year. The world ranking of Urmia University in January ۲۰۲۰ was equal to ۲۱۴۵, and in July ۲۰۲۰, it was equal to ۲۰۲۱. In the latest report, this ranking achievement improved by ۲۴۳ steps after gaining the world rank of ۱۹۰۲ in January ۲۰۲۱. Also, during this period, the national ranking of the university has improved from ۳۱ to ۲۹.
